The concept of gender in economic theory - introduction to feminist economics

Summary/Abstract: In the article one of the newest schools of heterodox economics - feminist economics - is presented. The article begins with the historical analysis of women and men economic activities and their presentation in the main stream economics. Then feminist school of economic thought is described - its main assumption, themes analyzed by feminist economists, and research methods used. The introduction of the concept of gender in the economic theory broadens the area of research interests of the discipline, as well as leads to changes in the instruments used in economic reality
