Boredom as human attitude towards time

Summary/Abstract: Article presents an attempt to understand boredom as an existential experience. Boredom is understood as a relation between human and “stopped” time. Author mentions theories which refer to cultural dimension of our understanding of time and metaphors which are used to describe it. The issue of “stopped” of time is connected with the problem of its “flow”, change and “movement”. In the analysis of phenomenon of boredom author refers to thought of Blaise Pascal, Josif Brodski, Emil Cioran and contemporary reflection connected with “smart boredom”.
