The role of City Logistics Manager in the improvement of freight transport organization in cities

Summary/Abstract: Cities are important areas of economic activity. Transportation of goods is essential for the proper functioning of a modern urban society, which in recent years has been struggling with the problems of the global economic crisis. City authorities (municipal administration) have a difficult task to motivate traders to take up economic activities which is possible inter alia by improving the conditions of the functioning of freight transport. The way to solve this problem is the establishment of City Logistics Manager. The paper is focused on the discussion of the tasks and roles of the manager in improving the organization of freight transport in urban areas.
