Innovations in the city logistics focused on sustainable transport of goods

Summary/Abstract: The article presents challenges and improvement efforts undertaken in urban freight transport in Poland. Local authorities ought to engage in the improvement of goods movement because the road-based freight transport in urban areas causes serious environmental problems and other negative effects for citizens’ life quality and decreases companies performance. The paper presents management innovations and solutions in urban transport implemented or planned by big cities authorities to reduce or prevent negative effects of road transport. Moreover, the impact of these activities on the development of sustainable urban transport and pro-social and pro-ecological attitudes of enterprises distributing goods or carrying loads in urban areas, are evaluated.
