Summary/Abstract: The present research is dedicated to the communicative contact as an essential aspect of communication which plays a very important role in the social interaction and everyday speech communication. It is an attempt to explore and identify specific signs of contact units in the Russian and the English language, their similarities and differences. The content of the etiquette signs – this is our understanding of the communication situation.
