Summary/Abstract: The article presents selected aspects of the concept of Six Sigma application in the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Apart from the characteristics of the sector, the paper shows the relationships between the concept of Six Sigma and quality management systems, in particular, with their main principle- process orientation. An inevitable need for the adaptation of the methodology of Six Sigma to the diverse needs of a smaller organization is also demonstrated.
