Summary/Abstract: Design thinking refers to the process of creating a new product. Richard Buchanan proposes to adapt this creative method in the disciplines other than industrial design as well. This article analyzes the possibility of introducing design thinking in social sciences. The author considers various fields of the research practice and modifies them treating design thinking as a key foundation, thus creating some pure types as a basis for further discussion.
