Summary/Abstract: The article concentrates on cybertrash (aka e-trash or e-waste) as an object of interest for media studies inspired by actor-network theory and new materialism. Looking at the analysis of e-trash the author observes in media studies some symptoms of the “turn to things,” and then she is trying to identify the redefinitions of materiality as such. Her relational thinking, inspired by theories of Jussi Parikka and Jennifer Gabrys, is close to Bruno Latour's idea of agency. Other problems originating in the study of cybertrash are addressed here on the basis of spam and a netart work entitled Once Upon by Olia Lialina and Dragana Espenschieda.
