Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the analysis, the characteristics and models of ethnic conflicts in Africa, as well as the influence of colonialism when it referes to that type of conflict. The special focus is on the African countries: Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan and Rwanda, but also on the part that deals with the post-colonial conflicts. The paper also deals with the model which refers to the transition to democracy.
