New age: modern times challenges

Summary/Abstract: One of the most important characteristics of postmodern times, in the religious sense, is the phenomenon of new types of religiousness as an alternative to the existing, traditional religions. Anyway, at the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21th century religion experiences a serious transformation, because it switches from a socially-reduced one to an individually-subjective religiousness, which led, as suggested by Prof. Adnan Silajdžić, to a serious crisis of religious institutions and crisis of traditional religious forms. It will result in a phenomenon of new forms of religious perception of the world, that is, new religious teachings and movements. This paper offers a short overview of basic characteristics of a new age religion, as well as the most important movements included in the category of new age religiousness.
