Summary/Abstract: Free Europe, since its inception and until the fall of the Communist regime, was, in the Romanian space, the main alternative source of information and opinion to the official public discourse. Therefore, in the following, we will present you some significant aspects from the work of the Department who's destinaton was the romanian space, located in the U.S. institution with its headquarters in Munich, in terms of institutional missions and the particularities of the year 1989. The research is based upon the documentation and the editing of the Scînteia Journal - The Romania's Journal - Twenty years ago, the historical supplement of the National Journal newspaper, released along with the daily noted during 2009.
