SOLO-PARENTS AS THE ALTERNATIVE FOR TRADITIONAL PARENTAL ROLES

Summary/Abstract: A solo-parent family is treated in a heterogeneous manner. Some researchers being acquainted with that social phenomenon claim it may generate some threats for full realization of its educational function. Present-day metamorphoses of family life caused a considerable increase of amount of children being brought up by a single parent. This article has been written on the basis of quality studies and is an attempt of finding answer the question what factors make solo-parent families fulfill their obligations following from socializing and educational functions, and which of them may pose a threat to their effective realization. The text describes experiences and everyday life quality of parents who bring up their children single-handed. Based on their narrations there was an attempt to describe conditioning factors bringing satisfaction from performing a role of mother/ father, as well as achieving the status of an efficient, creative and educationally effective family, regardless of/thanks to one’s monoparentality.
