Summary/Abstract: The study attempts to assess the influence of the implementation of the EU Climate and Energy Package (EU CEP), mainly its principal pillar, which is undoubtedly the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, on the selected aspects of sustainable socio-economic development of the EU Member States. In particular, the possible scenarios related to the impact of the package on the macroeconomic situation of the EU were presented. The literature covers considerations based mainly on the dynamic general equilibrium models, which were in the course of time modified and extended. The elaborations of the European Commission were the starting point for the analyzes conducted by many researchers. It should be underlined that the effects of the CEP implementation are extremely difficult to quantify. Finally, the paper presents findings of previous discussions and it suggests other research methods, which could be used in further studies.
