Summary/Abstract: Fuel poverty is a phenomenon more and more commonly observed among households both in Poland and in other European countries. It is in a condition when there is a problem (mostly of financial nature) preserving adequate temperature in a dwelling. Fuel poverty appears when a combination of three causes exists: these is low income, inappropriate quality of buildings and high prices of energy. In the paper definitions of fuel poverty were presented as well as certain problems concerning its measuring, including subjective and objective variables used to describe fuel poverty.
