Summary/Abstract: This article presents the exploratory qualitative analysis of moral perspectives, as constructed in the group of Polish managers, especially concentrating on the question how formal codes of ethics influence moral consciousness. The typology of moral perspectives is elaborated using a sample of individual in-depth interviews with CEOs, who manage middle and large sized companies located in different regions of Poland. Basing on their perceptions of the relationship between ethics and management, five types of perspectives were distinguished. It stems from the overview of these perspectives that the formal codes of ethics have restricted effect on the patterns of moral perception of Polish CEOs. The effects of the formal ethical standards on moral perspectives were confirmed only in one case. The presented typology shows a fragmented picture, which is the result of multifarious factors and procesess. Some of the presented moral perspectives can be interpreted as evidence of the relativization of moral norms, especially in the context of the discourse on moral crisis in the society of late modernity.
