Obecność dawnej leksyki w polskiej frazeologii
The presence of old lexis in the Polish phraseology

Summary/Abstract: One of the phraseological properties is the “storage” of various isolated language elements, also such lexical “antiquities” as eg.: na zabój, śmiać się do rozpuku, obrócić coś na nice. It is these phraseological units containing the archaic lexis that I have chosen to undergo a meticulous analysis. I have tried to find the factors which decide about the peculiarity of such collocations and I have also ventured to establish the causes of their stabilization in the language. One can give various reasons for the presence of the phraseological units with old lexis in today’s Polish language eg.: their brevity value (insza inszość); cofunctioning with compositional phraseological derivatives (doszczętny – do szczętu); the implementation of the archaic lexical units in the productive word formation models (to dla kogoś, komuś nie pierwszyzna); the stylistic emphasis (szlag by to trafił!); the “semantic assistance” – an archaic element is contained within several lexical units (po wsze czasy, ze wszech miar); a more general meaning than in the old times (dostać łupnia). These reasons have led to their peculiar character. Sometimes, however, it is difficult to establish which of the reasons have exerted more powerful influence leading to the final stabilization of the characterized collocations.
