Summary/Abstract: In 1955 the Ministry of Culture funded a trip of the manager of the Oriental Department at the National Library “St.St. Cyrillus and Methodius”, B. Nedkov to provide with archive documents. He brought from the Smolyan Region 30 manuscripts and some documents. Unlike the documents, the manuscripts received at that time in the Oriental Department have not been presented. Twenty five volumes from the books are in Arab language, 9 volumes are in Ottoman-Turkish, 4 codexes heterogeneous, i.e., Arab-Turkish, Arab-Persian. There are works among them that illustrate diverse spheres of knowledge, characteristic of the Muslim culture and science. The Koran and Koranic sciences, treatises about the Hadith Collections, dogmatic science, law, ethics, philosophy, Sufism, dictionaries and grammars, literary works and calendars. Part of the codexes are collections with heterogeneous contents. There are a couple of anthologies among them, the so called collections – djonk, which are interesting for researchers of literature, linguists and folklorists. It may be noted that among the creative authors we come across the name Ahicelebi – which means he had been connected with the Ahicelebi town – perhaps he was born or lived. Certainly, the materials collected by B. Nedkov in 1955 are a valuable source of information about the history and cultural life in the Rhodopa Mountain and their complete study would allow enriching the knowledge about the history of this region. The information contained in this fund allows expanding our ideas about the cultural heritage throughout the Bulgarian lands.
