THE YOUTH, CULTURAL TRADITIONS AND RITES OF TRANSITION

Summary/Abstract: The youths as a social group, as a development phase of human being, respective phenomena, which accompany this social structure, have been studied and treated by scholars of different fields of knowledge. This special categorisation makes that youth be noted in social sciences as a subculture which is associated with symbols, motivations, dispositions and thinking and characteristic behaviours. In this paper there are given facts about the definition of this category in cultural sciences, description of entering in this phase in various cultures and also reviewing of this category within our culture by concentration at the past and at the present. In a special way there are studied celebrations of mature evenings as a contemporary passing rite accompanied with the youth phase. In fact this paper presents a dimension of viewpoint of youth which manages to open and initially put forward a whole field of their cultural studying, which undoubtedly is very rich and miscellaneous. This culture interlocks in itself social structure, preoccupations, their mentality, forms of behaviour and ways of their spiritual and artistic expressions, which meet everywhere.
