THE ROLE OF ENSEMBLES IN PRESERVING SOME CULTURAL VALUES IN CONTEMBARARY SURROUNDINGS (URBAN)

Summary/Abstract: The role, the relevance and the function of Ensembles, in present times is very complex and manifold. By means of ensembles the feeling of belonging and respective cultural identity is reconstructed, reinforced and confirmed. Via ensembles a particular value is communicated within community, in one hand, but also in interaction with “the others” in manner of identification, distinction and peculiarity as human need, in the other hand. It is also presented, through presentations in festivals, an organized way of communication, symbolism and celebration of that identity, reinforcing this way common feelings among members of the same community and enforcing the feeling of pride and dignity during the presentation in front of “other” communities in case of international festivals. It is presented as a possibility for engagement in one leisure activity, as a possibility of professional choice full of challenges and responsibilities as any other profession, it is presented as a type of artistic creativity and, at the end, it is presented as a form of performance, scenic presentation, whereby except other mentioned functions, there is realized the function of entertainment, both for participants and public, in occasion of festivals or concerts and media broadcasting. Maybe, when we claim that in question is entertainment, it makes us suppose something unserious is in question, but entertainment is very important in everyday life. The interviews with people who are engaged in such activities for years, even decades, starting as children, show the sobriety that entertainment has in people’s life. Entertainment, perhaps, is the crown objective of human art and creativity, whether “traditional” or “modern”.
