Summary/Abstract: The first school of nursing in Turkey was established in 1920 and its name was “Admiral Bristol”, being itself an affiliate to the “American Hospital”. During 1925, in national scale, specialized high schools in nursing were established. They were under the aegis of the Red Crescent and they were called Red Crescent specialized high schools for medical nurses. In order to deal with the deficit in medical nurses in the field of medical help, the Ministry of Social Affairs in Turkey, in 1945, took precautions, concerning the establishment of professional specialized high schools in nursing. For the first time ever in Turkey, the students were able to obtain the specialist degree of“medical nurse” in 1955 at The EGE Universitesi. In 1968 at HacetepeUniversitesi the specialist subject of Woman’s Health and Disorders was pioneered and from 1972 until present day it is a specialty which anyone can apply for and can obtain a PhD. In 1933, the Association of Medical Nurses in Turkey was established and the first president of the organization was EsmaDeniz. In order to be helpful and supportive to its members and followers, the Organization launched in 2009 on the World Wide Web its Code of Ethics – “Code of Ethics and Responsibilities of the Medical Nurse”. During routine everyday duties, medical nurses, as any other medical staff, should follow the rules of ethics: not to cause any harm but to do their best effort to help and assist the patient; to respect the patient and not to mistreat patient’s rights; preserving private life and professional secret; following the ethical code. The rules and obligations of medical nurses in Obstetrics &Gynaecology are formulated by the law, proposed by the Ministry of Health – Management of the Medical Nurse.
