Summary/Abstract: Katalin Péter has been researching and writing for nearly fi fty years. During this time, especially since the 1970s several schools of history, various “turns”, approaches and trends have taken turns. Katalin Péter has always paid great attention and given much thought to the path fi ndings of historiography. However, it is not the novelty of her topics that refl ect the effect these path fi ndings had on her. Historiographic trends were not the only factors that infl uenced her to turn from deeds of great men to the study of lower social strata, just as the history of the Reformation kept her interested from the very beginning and throughout her career. The novelty she brings into historiography in my opinion is the switch from the established research frame of traditional historiography, i.e. the history of the nation and the great statesmen conducting national policy to smaller social groups, individuals, family, children and women.
