Summary/Abstract: The Hague Court advisory opinion on the issue of the Greek minority private schools caused to a large extent dissatisfaction in public opinion and in official circles in Albania. Meanwhile, in Greece this opinion was enthusiastically welcomed. However, certain groupings in the Greek press were skeptic about the willingness of the Albanian government to follow this opinion of the Court. On the other hand, although the Albanian press had been dissatisfied, it maintained its equilibrium. The Albanian government tried to protect its reputation pointing out that the opinion of the Court had not been unanimous, and that the minority of three members, among which the prominent British lawyer Cecil Hurst, had justified the closing of the Greek minority private schools by the Albanian government. Meanwhile, certain Greek nationalistic circles had become so exited that they started to incite the Greek minority in Albania to participate in the elections for the Greek Assembly.
