Summary/Abstract: In this essay I want to argue that among those normative presuppositions of classical Marxism which must be abandoned today is the Philosophy of the Subject. While contemporary Marxism has done much to displace or replace the paradigm of production, less attention has been paid to the implications of this critique of production for the Marxian concept of the subject - again as an empirical and a normative category.
