Summary/Abstract: Spirituality is the basic inner feature of the individual and determines the meaning of human existence, the motives of his feelings, thinking, activities and intentions and guarantees the continuity and expansion of such eternal values as love, beauty, truth, wisdom. Aesthetic experiences are very important for the spread of spirituality. They give more meaning to the personal relationship of T with the world than scientific cognition. Musical education based on the experience of beauty provides favourable possibilities for spiritual education. The object of the research is the idea of students' artistic-spiritual education through the musical artistic content. The aim is to investigate the presumptions, provided by pedagogical conceptions and training aids. In modem culture the prevailing scientific approach, less and less valued spiritual and moral cnteria make it harder to actualize spiritual education. Therefore the tasks of spiritual education while teaching music are to be realized through musical education (creating moral attitude through the beauty of music and its humanistic meaning). This acts as a guidance for the student entering the world of a esthetic emotions and intellect, referring to music, connected with the values of life and being, artistic cognition. New conceptions of musical education expanded by Lithuanian scientists (A. Katimene - 1998, J. Kievisas - 1997, A. Piliciauskas - 1994; 1998, 2. Rinkevicius - 1998; 2002) help to solve successfully the raised problem. While investigating teaching aids it turned out that the teaching content is mainly oriented first of all towards rationalistic teaching of musical language elements. Content teaching does not create sufficient conditions to form students' musical culture successfully and this way to solve the tasks of artistic-spiritual education at school. School still keeps to pedagogy based on scientific musical cognition.
