The Poet's Sister

Summary/Abstract: The central character of this article is Harieta, sister of the Romanian most famous poet Mihai Eminescu who despite her being disabled and ill tried hard to help her brother recover from his illness. From the letters written by Harieta to Cornelia Emilian the poet's benefactor (first published in 1892 then re-edited in 1933 by I.E.Toroutiu in the 4th volume of his work"Literary Studies and Documents") the reader finds out not only about the terrible struggle Harieta and her brother had to go through in order to overcome the indolence of a certain part of the local authorities, but also about various aspects their fellow inhabitants in the 19th century Botosani life.
