Soul as the Basic Point of Reference in Cracow’s Medieval Anthropology

Summary/Abstract: Medieval scholastics, also in Cracow, were interested in significant from the then anthropology point of view issues of the genesis and the nature of the soul, especially the most important from the faith point of view an issue of its im-mortality. They were also wondering about the fate of the soul after the death of the body. This type of wondering very rarely interest contemporary philosophers of man. They hold the view that this subject matter could be undertaken more on the plane of reason than that of faith. Nevertheless, it is necessary to remember that medieval matters concerning soul properly reflect the state of mind of medieval people.
