The Metaphysician of Contingency

Summary/Abstract: “The deconstruction of metaphysics” by Włodzimierz Zięba is a brilliant attempt of criticism of one of the main threads in Richard Rorty’s works. Zięba criticizes both his understanding of metaphysics and his efforts towards its ultimate rejection. The breaking off with metaphysics – in Zięba’s opinion – cannot be done, because Rorty becomes the metaphysicist of contingency himself by advocating his thesis of panrelationism. This article brings Zięba’s arguments into question.
