Summary/Abstract: We have many documentary references regarding Cuza House, from Galaţi, starting with the 4th decade of the XXth century. Alexandru Ioan Cuza lived in this house between 1844 and 1859, when he held public functions in the districts of Galaţi and Covurlui. In 1880, Mrs Elena Cuza still owned the house. After 1900, the documents mention other owners, but also the intent to recover Cuza House and to turn it into a museum. It is the merit of “Cuza Vodă” Association and of the civil society for fulfilling this desideratum. The article deals with the restoration of Cuza Vodă House, in 1938, and the inauguration of the museum, on January 24, 1939, upon the celebration of 80 years since the Union of the Romanian Principalities.
