Summary/Abstract: The largest forest zone from the only fine-sand area of Moldavia is located in the North-East of Galaţi County, at 6.5 kms South-East of the town of Tecuci. The forest area kept shrinking from 2,937 ha in 1892 to 1,612 ha today. One hundred years ago, the whole forest area was covered only with Quercus pedunculiflora; today, the forest consists of Robinia pseudacacia (74%) and Quercus pedunculiflora (15%). A comparative look to the two moments, by the help of the archive documents and of the field investigations, offers relevant information for the dynamic analysis of the geographical landscapes in Romania’s plain regions.
