Summary/Abstract: The article provides some information extracted from two unedited documents from the last decade of the XVIIIth century, originating from the archives of the Venetian embassy in Constantinople. We are dealing with two documents that are entirely presented in the Appendix, authenticated by the chancellery of Pietro Maria Loccatelli, Venetian consul in Oceacov, an important commercial port located, during that age, on the Russian territory. The first document is a collective statement of the crew of the Austrian schooner-brig „Real Palatino d’Ungheria”, concerning the destiny of a sailor who died in an incident in Galaţi. The second is a diary of the Venetian liege Luca Botterini, employed as „guardian” on the above merchant ship, who was fired by the captain of the vessel. The information on the moorage of the merchant ship in Galaţi, the hibernal stay of the crew in the Danubian port and the events involving the sailors and Botterini contribute to the portraying of a Romanian port that had a major importance in the economic life of the Lower Danube area.
