Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the special constructions present in the Bosnian language which have the form za + infinitive. These constructions have already been noticed but they have never been described in the grammar of the Bosnian (Croatian/Serbian) language and they were mostly considered to be “ungrammatical“. However, the analysis of two corpuses: Korpus bosanskih tekstova (The Corpus of Bosnian Texts) and Hrvatski nacionalni korpus (The National Croatian Corpus), has shown that these constructions are not only frequent, but heterogenous as well and that they have some similar meanings to other phrases and constructions. Therefore I speak about the modal (obligation or permission), fnal and causal and consequential function. I also recognize the adverbial and adnominal za + infinitive constructions which mostly have the passive meaning.
