Summary/Abstract: The laity are the second constituent element of the Church, the second essential element that is included in the Church composion, and without it the Church could not exist. The laity have a general priesthood, because as members of the mystical body of Christ, they are a priestly state. However this should not be confused with the special priesthood of ordinary ministers’s sacramental power. In the Church, says Father Liviu Stan, all its constituent elements are called to merge.
