Summary/Abstract: Andrei Makine's biographical novel, Le Testament Francais, tells the story of its writing through the process of frame narration, the novel the main character is due to write it, Charlotte Lemonnier, Notes biographiques. The multiplication of traveled , related, dreamed, distances is the multiplication of the narrator's identities: Saranza, the city of the Russsian steppe where the child narrator is fascinated by the stories of his French grandmother Charlotte, the city of his Stalinist adolescence where he questions the identity, denying the French and preferring the Russsian, other areas: non -places: the camp, the Paris tomb and heteropic spaces: the photographs, the dream space, the space of writing.
