Summary/Abstract: Kosińska reviews Sebastian Jagielski’s book "Maskarady męskości. Pragnienie homospołeczne w polskim kinie fabularnym" ["Masquerades of Masculinity. Homosocial Desire in Polish Cinema"] (2013), a monumental work concerning the ways and modes of coding homoerotic images and desires in Polish feature films from the interwar cinema to the most recent examples. Jagielski’s book is fresh, pioneering, provoking new ways of seeing the canonical Polish cinema. Author places his analysis in social, cultural and political context of Polish reality giving its readers a complete vision of the ways homosocial and homerotic desire functions in Polish culture as a whole.
