Summary/Abstract: The baroque tradition may serve as an important context for many Słowacki’s works. His written in Vilnius poem “Szanfary” is certainly deeply rooted in the baroque inspirations. It forms a varied mosaic of baroque elements of different types. There are minor oxymorons, sophisticated concepts based on contrasts and even the reminiscences of the way of regarding world characteristic for 17th century. The author of the articles concentrates on interpreting certain episodes of the baroque character on which this poem is built.
