What About the Roma People? The Enigma of an Italian crisis. Context. Response. Effects?

Summary/Abstract: Ever since the end of 2007 Italy is facing a continuous crisis with regard to Roma communities on its territory. The present article identifies a number of factors that have contributed to its development and maintain, such as: the significant growth of foreign population and its national diversity, the growth of illegal immigration, the rise of criminality, the sudden growth of Roma communities and their excessive poverty, the radicalization of the political discourses. All these and others contributed in a concerted manner to the advancement of the crisis. The vicious circle of causes and effects will perpetuate unless more constructive solutions to the above-mentioned issues are being set in place.
