Summary/Abstract: This family vault was discovered in August 2001 and excavated by Mihaela Iacob and Dorel Paraschiv (ICEM Tulcea) with the assistance of Nicolae Miriţoiu (Anthropological Research Center). During centuries this site was robbed, thus bones were mixed, so we have now just 40% from the entire material. 1. Immature skeletons: As a result of our researches we were identified osteological remains from 10 individuals. Among them 5 belong to the age group of 1 – 5 years, 3 to 5 – 10 years and 2 to 10 – 15 years. We observed that new born and teenagers are missing. 2. Adult skeletons a) General problems: – Calcanea and mandibles established the minimum number of individuals, this being of 29. – Sex estimation was determined on pelvis, femurs, tali and calcanea. – Ageing indicated that were matures and senile, and just few belong to 23 - 25 years. b) Synthesis of observations: Analyzed the skulls we identified 17 individuals, but on the mandibles 29. Also were studied 7 maxilla and 166 isolated teeth. On clavicle we identified 20 individuals, 10 males, 6 females and 2 with unknown sex. On scapula we identified 17 individuals, 3 males, 10 females and 4 with sex unknown. Analyzed the humeri could identified 24 individuals, 8 males 16 female. Their age belong to 30 – 75 years and stature was between 162 – 168 cm at males and 151 – 160 cm at females. It was found 20 pairs of radius and cubitus, which belong to 10 males and 9 females. Stature was between 163 – 170 cm at males and 153 – 159 cm at females. Vertebral column is represent in proportion of 32,3 %. However, 11 of them could be connected with sacrum. Pelvis was represented with 25 individuals, 10 males, 14 females and 1 with sex unknown, age belong to the group of 27 – 50 years. On femurs were identified 25 individuals, 12 males and 13 females, with ages belong to 36 and 78 years. Their stature was 164 – 167 cm at males and 149 – 158 at females. Tibia indicated 26 individuals, 9 males and 11 females, and fibula 25 individuals. On tali and calcanea we calculated discriminate functions for the sex estimation and was identified 13 males and 16 females. This article represents just a short representation of our report; entire study will publish in volume dedicated to Ibida series.
