Looking into the Viewer’s Eyes

Summary/Abstract: Jadwiga Majewska thinks that the leitmotif of this year’s edition of Old Brewery New Dance in Malta (Poznań, 3-8 VII 2012) was focused on diverse artistic actions concentrated around the notion of bodily perception. While the western manner of thinking urges us to comprehend visual perception as being experienced by a recipient, the diverse artistic projects presented at the festival aimed to reverse this model. The artists wished to wrench the spectator away from the traditional position of observer and encourage him to reflect on what was going on with his emotions and bodily experiences while participating in the performance.
