Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to outline the factors on the Polish labor market that put women in unfavorable position. Apart from the basic system factor that is inefficient and variable labor market policy uncoordinated with family policy, other causes of women’s relative disadvantage on the labor market are considered: occupational segregation (horizontal and vertical), income inequality and cultural factors associated with gender contract and the traditional understanding of female roles in society which results in tthe lack of equal opportunities in employment.
