Summary/Abstract: During the last twenty five years Polish countryside went through systemic changes. At the beginning of systemic transformation the main changes were of legislative nature. Second decade of systemic transformation – under the economic factors (modernisation of agriculture) as well as socio-cultural (non-rural forms of rural space became) to be a value for city inhabitants. In the same time Polish accession to the European Union (Polish countryside and agriculture under the rules of Common Agriculture Policy) brought up process of disintegration which had an influence on agrarian changes. In the present rural inhabitants, who are involve in rural production are in minority. Almost 2/3 of rural areas inhabitants are people engaged in non-rural occupation. In the same time number of family farm holds is decreasing. Starting from year 2000 we can observe constant migration from city to the rural areas, which has influence on different ways of use of rural space. Pararelly number of rural inhabitants with higher education is increasing. Those processes shows that diversity and differentiation as well as multilevel and multifarious become to be correct frames for analysis of processes taken place outside the city also in our country. Also the three competing rural development dynamics typology of rural development (created for ‘old Europe’ countries) applies as well in countries of ‘new Europe’.
