Summary/Abstract: Political fragmentation within local authorities is one of the factors which affect the territorial unit’s capacity for development, completing tasks and meeting the needs of local societies. This article aims at outlining the dynamics and features of spatial differentiation in terms of political fragmentation in communal councils in Poland. The analysis covers the results of three elections (2002, 2006 and 2010).
