Twenty years of unsolved conflicts

Summary/Abstract: Between December 1989 and 1997 Romania faced more than 30 violent clashes against Roma communities, all resulting in burning down houses and the killing of those who were not able to hide on time. Although 4 of these cases were in the meantime solved out by the European Court of Human Rights, eventually Romania did not apply all the end decisions, hence delaying the final resolution of these conflicts. Meanwhile new similar clashes arose, but the authorities seem to be standing idly.
