THE EXPERIMENTAL PHONETIC SURVEY AS PART OF THE DIAGNOSIS AND THERAPY OF SPEECH DISORDERS – PERSPECTIVES IN BULGARIA

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present the use of phonetic research in help of speech diagnosis and therapy. It contains the world experience in clinical phonetics and the Bulgarian one. We pay a special attention to the phonetic research as a part of evidence based practice in fluency disorders – a research area which is not enough explored in Bulgaria. The paper is divided into two parts – segmental and prosody research. We hope that this collection will stimulate new studies in Bulgaria to enhance our understanding of human communication and its disorders.
