Summary/Abstract: The paper investigates the development of the intra-industry trade (IIT) in automotive trade of four Visegrad Countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) in the period 2000-2009. Rapid growth of the automotive trade in those countries influenced changes of trade pattern, especially an increase of the IIT intensity. Changes of IIT indices are presented in the automotive trade (divided into motor vehicles trade and parts and accessories trade) of the analysed countries with their major trading group partners. A special attention is paid to changes of the IIT pattern for the automotive industry. An increase of vertical IIT low quality for motor vehicles and an increase of vertical IIT high quality for parts and accessories resulted mainly from the specialisation of those countries in the individual kind of automotive output (e.g. in small cars).
