Summary/Abstract: "The Mythologem of the Lost Feminine Identity in E. Fakinou's novels «Astradeni», «The Seventh Garment» and «The Great Green Sea»" is an attempt at reading the first three novels of contemporary Greek writer Eugenia Fakinou as mythopoeic constructions of identity. By placing the feminine psyche in the light of mythological archetypes, this paper re-focuses the identity problem in a specific way. The messages conveyed by three narratives, otherwise quite different from each other, telling the stories of three different heroines, overlap at a supra-textual level. This allows a perception of the three texts as one containing different aspects of an elaborate mythologem. The motifs and symbols from ancient Greek mythology the author has employed outline a perspective for presenting the feminine identity and/as a mythologem.
