Summary/Abstract: The correspondence of Ignát Herrmann addressed to Karel Matěj Čapek Chod comprises twenty-nine letters from the period 1895-1927. The letters reflect the relationship of the writers and to some extent their personal lives and scales of values. Many of the letters deal with Čapek’s works and the work of Herrmann himself. Other topics of the correspondence relate to journalism and the editorial activity by which they earned a living. It is evident that in spite of their differences the two writers inspired each other, responded to each other’s writing and suggested topics for each other’s work.
