Nerkez Smailagić's contribution to development of Islamic studies in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Summary/Abstract: This brief paper deals with the contribution of Nerkez Smailagić to the development of religious and theological thought in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 20th century. Particular attention is paid to his scientific-cum-cultural and religious thematization of Islam, his methodical approach to the historical identity of the Muslim world, his language, and the comparative discourse that provides studies on Islam a considerably more significant and interesting dimension.
