Summary/Abstract: This research investigates a crucial moment for Russian history and culture, i.e. 17th century. This is a period of „Smuta” or „Time of Troubles”, False Dimitris. By the end of the 17th century, Russian literature had changed in important ways. The change in literary culture is also evident in the beginnings of prose fiction. Similarly, Western cultural influences gradually penetrated Russia in the 17th century. That is why this period characterized by the struggle between „New” and „Old”. This article as well as analyzes the evolution of epistolary manner in Russia and pays attention to fundamental moments in the literary correspondence development. This tendency was discovered in the letters, written by the leader of the Old Believers Avvakum and him „daughter” Boyarina Morozova. Their language means their literary relations.
