Summary/Abstract: In the years 1963, 1965, 1984 and 1990, there were made some researches on the Gurghiului Valley area (Orşova, Hodac, Urisiul de Jos), in the settlements from the defile opening Deda-Topliţa (Deda, Filea, Pietriş, Ruşii-Munţi, Morăreni), as well as in those from the western part of Subcălimani (Vătava, Râpa de Jos). At that time, the ancient occupation of bee hunting was still practising, fact which has made possible the necessary documentation for this study. For looking after the beehives from the wood, two methods were used: 1) The hunting out through the “cobgilirea” method. 2) The hunting out through the “back-moving” method. The proceeding of pulling the beechs out of beehives, it was made by climbing up on trees with the help of “prepeleci” and the hook or with “pătula”. Starting from the first decodes of our century, the traditional agriculture felt into decay and its place has been taken by the systematic agriculture in beehives, which guarantees a better sheltering for the bees.
