Summary/Abstract: The authors aim to examine the .quality of life. as perceived by two controversial political personages in the Netherlands and Slovakia . P. Fortuyn and R. Fico, respectively . who are often described as populists. The Netherlands and Slovakia represent countries with diverse historical experience, economic and social level, political culture, and religion and population structure. The authors thus incorporate the following factors in order to analyze the given issue in more detail: environment, healthcare, immigration (minorities), the welfare state, education (upbringing), security, and the economic level, which is here limited to the purchasing power of the population.
